PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A plane was forced to make an emergency landing in the St. Johns River on Wednesday -- luckily the plane was designed to land on water.

Due to a mechanical issue a pilot flying out of Jacksonville was forced to land in the St. Johns River near Palatka, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Dylan Bryan.

The plane, a Grumman Albatross, is an amphibious plane built to land on water.

The pilot was not injured and there was no damage to the aircraft, according to FHP.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the aircraft.

According to Bryan no further investigation will be conducted.
