JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is working to identify a badly decomposed body found Monday morning.
A man on a bike allegedly notified employees at Lee and Cates Glass of a dead body in nearby woods, according to homicide Sgt. Paul with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The body was found near the 800 block of Houston Street in Jacksonville.
At this point in the investigation, police believe the body is that of a female, but due advanced decomposition, further tests will need to be done to determine race and gender, Sgt. Paul detailed.
Police are trying to locate the white male on a bike, possibly homeless, that tipped off workers at Lee and Cates.
Investigators plan to use dental records to help determine an identity of the body.
According to a police, a known homeless camp is located about 30 yards from where the body was found.
