JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports that a man with "diminished mental capacity" who went missing Wednesday afternoon has been found safe.
Isaiah Hammond, 19, who was originally reported to be "bipolar and paranoid schizophrenic," got out of the car while riding with his mother and eight-year-old brother just after 4 p.m. She was following him in her car when she was involved in a traffic crash.
His mother was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but the sound of the crash scared Hammond and he ran away.
Police originally thought Hammond may be hiding somewhere in the 2900-3400 block of Hendricks Avenue and asked residents in that area to check and see if Hammond is on their property.
