JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An elderly man is dead and a suspect remains at large after a possible arson Tuesday night.
According to witnesses, a man was seen setting the home on fire around 11 p.m Tuesday night on the 3600 block of Mimosa Drive.
When Jacksonville Fire and Rescue arrived at the residence, they found an elderly man inside while attempting to extinguish the fire, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The man was removed from the home and taken to a rescue truck,but died at the scene.
JSO is looking for a brown haired, white male in his teens to early twenties, with a thin build. The suspect is believed to be between 5-foot-6 to 5 foot-7-inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. The suspect was wearing shorts and a black and white backpack.
Neighbors say the man who lives in the house is about 83-years-old and they are shocked someone did this.
A police helicopter could be seen circling above the area searching for the suspect.
