JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Former Jaguars wide receiver Jimmy Smith is an inmate in a Mississippi jail.
Smith entered jail in late March and is serving time a 2-year sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a 4-year sentence for cocaine possession.
His tentative release date is November 8, 2018.
After a couple run-ins with the law during and after his playing career, Jimmy moved back to his home state of Mississippi a few years ago. He was running a training facility for athletes when Dan Hicken traveled to Mississippi for this series of stories.
