JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Bradley Brown, 55, has died following an accident that sent his Kia Sorento into a retention pond early Friday morning.
The incident occurred on the Interstate 295 northeast bound exit ramp to Phillips Highway.
The call came into Florida Highway Patrol at 5:24 a.m., after witnesses allegedly saw the vehicle exit I-295 at Phillips Highway on the shoulder and eventually ending up in the pond, according to Sgt. Bryan with FHP.
Brown was traveling northbound on I-295. According to an FHP report he failed to negotiate the curve on the exit ramp from I-295 to Phillips Highway and ended up driving off the roadway into the retention pond.
Brown was found in the submerged silver Kia Sorento. Dive teams from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Fire Rescue assisted in the rescue.
The Kia was the only vehicle involved in the incident.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
