ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The southbound lanes of I-95 have been shut down following a crash that left a truck overturned and one person in critical condition.

Interstate 95 will remain closed for several more hours while Florida Highway Patrol investigates the crash according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue representative Matthew Sara.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the crash involving the overturned bread truck around 8:30 p.m.

The crash occurred on I-95 Southbound, south of SR 206 near mile marker 302.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash but it is unclear how many vehicles were involved according to Sara.

When the truck overturned it made contact with a car, and the person driving the car was flown by helicopter to Shands Jacksonville in critical condition, according to a St. Johns Fire Rescue.

The Southbound side of I-95 is shut down until further notice due to an active fuel leak.

Officials say about 10 to 15 gallons of diesel spilled onto the roadway and a hazardous materials crew was working to clean it up.

First Coast News will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
