JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that has left one man with life-threatening injuries.
Officers were responding to an unrelated crash at 20th Street West and Myrtle Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when they heard shots fired in the 1300 block of W. 21st Street, according to JSO Sgt. Sean Coarsey.
They searched on foot and found a man outside of a duplex suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
Coarsey said police believe the man, who has not yet been identified, is a resident of the duplex.
As of late Thursday evening, the man was in surgery in life-threatening condition, Coarsey said.
Police are interviewing neighbors for information. There were no witnesses to the shooting and no suspect information is available at this time.
