Complete Coverage: Infant Murdered in Brunswick
BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- For Sherry West, losing a son is all too familiar.
Before losing her 13-month-old son in a fatal shooting on Thursday, her 18-year-old son Sean Glassey was fatally stabbed in New Jersey in 2008.
"My first son was killed in, um, was also killed in an altercation in West Deptford, New Jersey. He was the teen that was killed in West Deptford. Sean Glassey," West said.
West said her son had dreams of being a police officer. But he died at age 18, well before they could come true.
"He tried to protect the girl's life. They made him think he was saving a girl's life. And he was so worried for her and they lured him into a dark road and he never saw the knife," she said.
But police reports obtained by First Coast News tell a different story.
In March 2008, investigators say Glassey was in a group of five individuals waiting for an unarmed 17-year-old they said a girl lured via text message.
Reports go on to state Glassey came armed with a knife, but in the course of a struggle, the knife switched hands.
Police said the 17-year-old intended victim used it to protect himself.
Glassey died, the victim of a single stab wound in the torso.
His mom is now reeling again from violence she said has stolen not one of her children, but two.
"I waited 20 years to have more kids, and this is what happened. It seems like it goes on and on and on and I'm so afraid to have more kids in this earth. It's sad.
