UPDATE -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released new information Friday on a now deadly shooting incident.
According to JSO, Kenneth Rashaard Smith, 19, died as a result of his self-inflicted injuries.
UPDATE -- (March 13) One person is in custody following an incident Tuesday where a man playing with a gun shot himself.
Daryl Austin, 20, was arrested in relation to the case for charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence for allegedly removing the gun from the scene.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- (March 12) A teen is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after accidentally shooting himself.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a home at the 11100 block of Key Haven Blvd. late Tuesday morning, according to the Sgt. Janson with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
A 19-year-old was allegedly playing with a gun when he accidently shot himself, Janson detailed.
The teen was transported to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
According to Janson, three other people were in the home when the gun went off.
An investigation is ongoing.
