ST JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - A man wanted in Duval County for outstanding warrants for various violent crimes is in jail in St. John's County after fleeing from a car crash.
Leno Malijah Gee, 19, was driving a white Chevy Impala Friday night when he allegedly slid into the intersection of Masters Drive and S.R. 16 striking a pickup truck, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The pickup truck was forced into a Dodge Charger and finally came to a stop after colliding with a traffic signal box. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to a Facebook post from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Gee, and his passengers, 22-year-old Tyrei D. Salmond and an unidentified female, allegedly fled the scene on foot, according to FHP.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office launched an aerial and ground search for Gee and Salmond around 10:00 p.m. Friday. Gee and Salmond were located a short time later in a swampy area north of S.R. 16, according to the SJCSO. The female passenger was not located.
Gee is facing charges for resisting an officer without violence in St. Johns County and is facing multiple charges from unrelated crimes in Duval County, according to the SJCSO. Gee also has charges pending by the St. Augustine Police Department for his involvement in the crash.
Gee is currently being held in the St. Johns County Jail on a $100,009 bond.
