ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Shoppers and employees are allowed back into the Orange Park Mall after the Clay County Sheriff's Office investigated a bomb threat to the mall.

A call came in that there was a bomb in the mall and the caller said if deputies responded, they would open fire on them, according to CCSO Lt. Wolf.

No bomb or suspicious individuals were found during the sweep. During the sweep, the same caller called several times from the same number threatening the same thing.

Deputies checked the mall and worked with its staff to ensure the safety of shoppers, according to CCSO spokesperson Mary Justino.

During the investigation, an announcement came over the public announcement system for everyone in Sears and the surrounding kiosks to evacuate.

As stores and areas of the mall were being checked, mall management either evacuated or locked down certain areas of the mall. Businesses are now returning to normal operations.

CCSO was able to ping the caller and found that they were headed into Jacksonville. John Finotti of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority confirmed that a bomb threat on the Skyway did come in.

The number cannot be identified and as of now, deputies are considering this a hoax. The investigation into who placed the call is ongoing.
