JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Humane Society Thrift Store got a huge donation Tuesday thanks to racers who participated in the 26.2 with Donna this past weekend.

It was a chilly start to the marathon Sunday and many runners started out in layers. As they warmed up, they peeled off some of those layers along the route. The 26.2 with Donna Foundation collected the left behind clothes and donated a truckload full to the Humane Society Thrift Store on Beach Boulevard.

But for one runner, the donation came as a big surprise. He draped his jacket over a fence near the start line and didn't know it would be gone when he came back to get it.

"It is somewhere in this needle in a haystack and so we are going to fish through here and hope to find it because his van keys are in his pocket," said Amanda Napolitano, Executive Director of the 26.2 with Donna Foundation. "We will certainly go through the clothes and if we find anything that's of value, keys or anything like that, we will put it aside in lost and found and folks can call us at our office."

Napolitano said the foundation collected more clothes during the race than it ever has in the past.
