Major crashes block portions of I-95, US-1 and US-17

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Major crashes caused delays in and around the city Thursday morning, including a potentially fatal crash on Interstate 95 southbound near International Golf Parkway.

The first crash on I-95 south at IGP happened around 5:15 a.m. It involved a semi and a vehicle smashed underneath it against the guardrail. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there were potentially fatal injuries involved in that crash. Life flight was used to transport the injured.

A few other crashes happened in the backup, including one on I-95 near CR-210 that shut down all southbound lanes around 7:45 a.m. According to a witness at the scene, this crash involved multiple vehicles.

The Nassau County Sheriff's Office cleared a jack-knifed semi on US-1 southbound in Callahan. It happened before 6:15 a.m. near Mussellwhite Road and blocked all southbound lanes.

In addition to those crashes, drivers saw major delays on Roosevelt Boulevard northbound from Fleming Island up to Orange Park after an injury crash near NAS Jacksonville happened around 6:30 a.m. Two northbound lanes were blocked at Swan Road as crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes have since been reopened.
