NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- One teen was killed and another injured Friday after a vehicle flipped during an accident on County Road 119 east of Pistol Range Road near Bryceville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Dustin Hunt, 17, was driving a 1991 Chevy Silverado, with passenger 15-year-old Kyle Warren along for the ride, according to the incident report
They were traveling westbound on County Road 119 when Hunt attempted to pass a vehicle while traveling around a curve in the road.
Hunt passed a 2009 Chevy Silverado, driven by Randall Edenfield, and drove onto the grass shoulder and spun out of control, troopers said.
Hunt's Silverado flipped multiple times as it traveled onto the roadway and finally came to rest on the opposite shoulder.
According to the crash report, Hunt was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his truck. Warren was wearing his seat belt.
Debris from the crash struck Edenfield's truck on the left side as he swerved to avoid the wreck and Hunt.
Both Hunt and Warren were airlifted by Trauma 1 to Shands Jacksonville. Warren was pronounced dead at the hospital.
