(News-Press) Rylee Douglas, the 3-year-old injured in a crash on Alligator Alley on Monday, died of her injuries just before midnight that night.

Douglas, who was taken to Physicians Regional Hospital in Naples in critical condition, was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m. Monday, according to Lt. Gregory Bueno of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Madison Douglas, 4, is in critical condition at the hospital. Her condition has worsened from Monday, when her injuries were listed as serious.

The driver, Cecilia Renee Douglas, 33, died at the scene Monday. Her 2005 Lexus crashed into the rear of another car near mile marker 88 in Collier County just before 8:30 a.m. Her car then went through a fence and into a canal, where she and the two children were submerged when FHP troopers found them.

The majority of that canal is 20-30 feet deep, according to FHP.
