JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man who was convicted of two counts of armed robbery on Wednesday night now faces life in prison.
Terrance Anthony Hightower, 33, was convicted for demanding the purse and wallet at gunpoint from a couple on Margaret Street in 2009, according to a release from the State Attorney's Office.
After the robbery, Hightower fled and was then arrested in New Jersey six days later and the purse and wallet was found in his car by police there.
With two Volusia County burglary convictions, Hightower is a habitual felony offender, the release said. Because he committed the Jacksonville robbery within three years of being released from prison, Hightower is also a Prison Release Reoffender.
He is scheduled to be sentenced the week of Feb. 19.
