JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A mother has identified her daughter as the woman who was shot and killed Saturday night at an apartment in 2400 block of E. Lincoln Court in the Hogan's Creek neighborhood.
The woman's name has not been released by police though.
Sabrina Wilcox contacted First Coast News Sunday morning and told us she was the mother of the victim, Katrina Wilcox, 30. The mother says they were at a cookout there with a friend and having a good time.
Wilcox says a girl came to the door, her daughter said she would be back soon, and a few minutes later Wilcox found out her daughter had been shot and killed.
Wilcox says she wants to know who did this. " I am not going to let this go," said Wilcox.
Police responded at 7:05 p.m. to reports of shots fired at an apartment on E. Lincoln Court, according to Sgt. Shawn Coarsey with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide unit.
As police arrived, first responders with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue were treating a woman for at least one gunshot wound, Coarsey said. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police say an argument broke out inside the apartment before Katrina Wilcox was shot.
The investigation is ongoing.
