JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide unit is asking for the public's help in finding out who shot and killed a man Friday night in the city's first homicide of the New Year.
Around 7 p.m., residents on Birkenhead Road in the Lakeshore South neighborhood heard gunshots.
When police arrived, they found a male of an unknown age shot and lying on the ground, according to Sgt. M.A. Paul with JSO. The man died a short time later.
Police are seeking help from the community, Sgt. Paul said, witnesses only saw the man collapse but did not see who shot him.
