PALATKA, Fla. -- A former firefighter and Palatka man was sentenced Wednesday on his birthday to life in prison.

Mark Fowler, 42, was convicted lewd or lascivious molestation of a child less than 12 years old in November.

Circuit Judge Carlos E. Mendoza gave Fowler the sentence of life in prison.

According to prosecutors, Fowler molested a girl from the time she was nine until she was 11.
