U.S. Attorney indicts Jacksonville man John Lester on child pornography charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 61-year-old Jacksonville man has been federally indicted on charges he received and possessed child pornography.

United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill said John Carver Lester was indicted by a federal grand jury. Lester faces three charges of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

O'Neill said if Lester is convicted, he faces a minimum of five years in prison with a maximum of 20 years and a $250,000 fine for each of the receipt of child pornography charges.  For Lester's charge of possession of child pornography he faces 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, O'Neill said.

Police arrested Lester at his Jacksonville home on December 20. O'Neill said he is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshal's Service.

Lester's arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, December 27 at 10 a.m. in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge James R. Klindt.

O'Neill said the case against Lester was investigated by the FBI.
