Samson said a vehicle or vehicles ran over Schroom.  Rescue workers pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Samson said evidence collected by police at the scene showed Schroom was not riding his bicycle at the time of the crash.  The bicycle was found lying off to the side of the road with no damage.

Detectives have interviewed witnesses, Samson said, and are continuing to talk with them as they collect video from the area in an effort to determine the make and model of the vehicle(s) that hit and killed Schroom.
