President Obama is giving federal employees a holiday present -- Christmas Eve off.
In
an executive order issued Friday, Obama said "all executive branch
departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and
their employees excused from duty on Monday, December 24, 2012, the day
before Christmas Day, except as provided in section 2 of this order."
Section
2 says certain employees must report for duty on Monday "for reasons of
national security, defense, or other public need."
Many of Obama's predecessors as presidents have also given employees a holiday on Christmas Eve.
