JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol released the name of a good Samaritan killed on the Buckman Bridge Sunday night when she stopped to help a motorist.
Lyanne Marie Vera, 21, died at Orange Park Medical Center after she was hit by a pickup truck driven by 41-year-old Paul Fort.
Sgt. Bryan with the Florida Highway Patrol tells First Coast News there was a disabled Honda Prelude driven by 23-year-old Jahmeela Griffin in the right emergency northbound lane of the Buckman Bridge Sunday night.
He says Vera, who was in a second car, pulled up to pick up Griffin who was broken down.
After Vera's car stopped, Fort's truck veered into the emergency lane and hit the second vehicle, killing Vera. It also caused her car to hit Griffin's Prelude.
Griffin and Fort suffered minor injuries, a traffic crash report from FHP said both refused medical transport.
FHP said charges in the crash are pending further investigation.
