FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- A Palm Coast man died Saturday after an officer-involved shooting in the 60 block of Brownstone Lane, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Troy Gordon, 32, was identified as the man who was shot and killed, according to Public Information Officer Debra Johnson with the sheriff's office.
Gordon threatened a deputy with a machete in one hand while carrying a Bible under his arm, Johnson said. The deputy tased him as he approached, but that attempt failed to stop him.
A second deputy on the scene shot Gordon and killed him, according to an incident report from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Both deputies were transported to Florida Hospital Flagler after suffering only minor injuries.
The deputies were responding to a possible Baker Act incident, a mental health designation in Florida, Johnson said.
Gordon lived at the residence where deputies were called out to with his grandmother and another woman.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be investigating the incident and the two deputies have been placed on administrative leave, according to the sheriff's office.
