FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- The Flagler County Sheriff's Office locked down the campuses of at least four high schools in Flagler County Wednesday morning.

The schools that were affected include Flagler Palm Coast High School, Matanzas High School, Imagine School at Town Center and Daytona State College Flagler Palm Coast.

The lock down is a precautionary move after a former student, 20-year-old William Hofer, posted threatening messages overnight on Facebook that included harming himself, according to a release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Hofer was taken into custody just after 3 p.m. on John Anderson Highway in the Flagler Beach area. He has been charged with issuing written threats to kill or do bodily harm.

Hofer is a graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School, class of 2011. The Sheriff's Office is operating under the assumption that Hofer has access to weapons based on his Facebook postings, but that fact has not been confirmed. Deputies said Hofer's is now a transient and has no home address.

The lock downs were initiated around 8:53 a.m. this morning and classes on all campus are proceeding as normal.
