One man found dead after guns shots fired in Palatka

PALATKA, Fla. -- An unidentified male was killed in Palatka shortly after midnight on Saturday at a home on Florida Avenue, according to the Palatka Police Department.

Police were dispatched at 12:10 a.m. to a report of gun shots fired in the area of Florida Avenue and Fern Street, said Asst. Chief James Griffith with the Palatka Police Department.

As officers searched the area they located a body at 107 Florida Ave, Griffith said. The body of a male subject was found by investigators, who appeared to be the victim of gunshot wounds.

Police haven't identify the body.

Investigators were able to locate William Session, 26, of 107 Florida Avenue, a person of interest in the case, according to Griffith.

Session told police that he was leaving his residence and was confronted by two armed suspects wearing masks. The suspects began shooting at him as he tried to flee.

Griffith said he told police he returned fire with his gun and ran from the house.

Session was able to confirm that the suspect that died at the scene was one of the robbers, but didn't know his identity.
