JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Thursday convicted sex offender Donnie Rae Jones learned he will spend the next 25 years in prison.

After he is released, Jones, 40, will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

In October a jury convicted Jones on a lewd or lascivious molestation charge.

In 2008 police arrested Jones after a mother reported her daughter was sexually abused.

A news release from State Attorney Angela Corey's office said Jones fondled the 11-year-old girl in 2006.

The release said the abuse was not discovered until 2008 when the girl told her mother Jones had touched her inappropriately.
