PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- Homicide investigators are working a suspicious death case in Ponte Vedra, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Police were in the wooded area directly south of the Target shopping plaza at Marsh Landing Parkway and A1A early Sunday evening. It's located near the St. Johns County and Duval County border.
Sgt. Thomas Bingham with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department said the case involved two homeless people.
Corporal Catherine Payne with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said a man has been found dead.
The area has been an active transient camp for quite some time, according to Payne.
Detectives were seen removing items from the woods and a portion of the wooded area was taped off.
A female and a male suspect were taken into custody.
"The death is suspicious in nature and we are not searching for anyone, at this time," said Sgt. Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
