JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sears will be opening its doors at 8:00 p.m. Thanksgiving night for the first time ever. The store is boasting a thousand doorbuster deals, including a 50 inch LED TV for $299.
That price was enough to convince Chip Yglesia to begin camping outside the department store at The Avenues on Wednesday afternoon.
"I had to go find out where to wait because this rope wasn't here yet," Yglesia explained pointing to the line. "They told me to wait out here and then they put the rope up and [I] felt pretty silly when no one else was here until later."
Amanda Head was second in line. As an employee inside the optical department, even she will not get her hands on any deals until 8:00.
"It's worth it," she said. "When you're saving $1000, it's worth it."
Head is planning to buy one of the 50 inch televisions as well as a $100 diamond tennis bracelet.
None of the people waiting outside said they were planning to wait until Christmas to enjoy their Black Friday bargains.
Mall officials said shoppers who are planning to visit Sears when it opens at 8:00 should park near the outside Sears entrance. The rest of the mall will not be open until 12:01 a.m. on Friday.
