JACKSONVILLE, Fla-- Black Friday is nearly upon us and some stores are opening early Thanksgiving night. Walmart is starting its Black Friday deals extra early this year, at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The Walmart on Normandy Boulevard was kind enough to give FCN a behind-the-scenes peek on Wednesday about how the store gets ready for the biggest retail day of the year.
Behind the stocked shelves and glowing televisions is a back room full of merchandise. But even past that, behind the building are multiple trailers full of Black Friday items ready to be sold to eager customers.
With the helping hands of efficient employees, for the past week the trailers have been unloaded and organized so the store doesn't run out of popular items when Black Friday sales begin at 8:00 p.m.
The manager told FCN that between Thursday night and Black Friday the store will have around 400 employees working the various shifts to make sure the sales run smoothly.
While the merchandise is stocked to the max, hungry customers were snatching up last minute Thanksgiving foods early Thursday morning.
"It is getting low, it is getting very low, but that is to be expected," said Victoria Hyde as she left the Walmart on Hutchinson Park Drive early Thursday morning.
Hyde is taking her food home to start making Thanksgiving dinner, but she will be back for the sales!
"Me and my friend are going to get up super-duper early and start at midnight and work our way up til like 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning," said Hyde with a laugh.
For shoppers like Hyde, Walmart and stores all across the First Coast will be ready for Black Friday!
