JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Traffic Homicide investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are investigating what caused a scooter to swerve off the roadway early Monday morning.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Jammes Road and Morse Avenue.

JSO said a man on a scooter lost control and went off the roadway. He was not wearing a helmet and according to investigators, alcohol may have been involved. He was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
