JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Homicide detectives are trying to find the men they believe are responsible for shooting a 23-year-old male at a home on the Westside.
Family identified the victim as Lance Van Morene, who was found dead in an apartment located in the 3200 block of Rayford Street, which borders Interstate 10.
Frank Morene, who came to the scene along with the victim's mother, said he was not sure if his son lived where he was found murdered.
"He's a good kid, I mean a good kid sometimes hung with wrong crowd and things happen," said Morene.
According to Sgt. T. K. Waters, witnesses told police they heard gunshots at about 10:30 a.m. Friday and told officers they saw three black men leave the apartment following the sounds.
Waters said investigators are now looking for the men, whom witnesses said drove away from the scene in a silver Toyota with gray bodywork on the trunk or rear bumper.
