JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Here is a list of events going on this weekend within our community.


WEEK OF VALOR: The Week of Valor is an effort to honor our service men and women, showcasing Jacksonville's dedication to our military. It continues throughout the week, culminating with the downtown Veterans Day parade Monday.

SALUTE VETERAN'S DAY PICNIC & AMERICANA MUSICFEST: The Salute Veteran's Day Picnic & Americana Musicfest takes place at the Jacksonville Landing Saturday at 1 p.m. There will be live music by Will Pearsall, Evans Acoustic Trio, Wildsiners, Longfellow Street, Grandpa's Cough Medicine, The O.C. Band, Feral Swine Experiment, Yankee Slickers and Love Chunk presented by Southside Business Men's Club.

NORTHEAST FLORIDA WOMEN VETERANS ROUNDTABLE: If you are a female and have served in the military, you don't want to miss this event! The roundtable will provide information on VA benefits and incentive available to female veterans, local resources, and address issues important to female veterans. It's Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At the Florida State College, Jacksonville Downtown Campus, Bldg A.

2012 VETERANS' CUP LACROSSE TOURNAMENT: The 2012 Veterans' Cup is a Fall tournament event that is part of the Florida United Lacrosse Cup series. Sponsored by Team Florida, this is the 8th year that the Veterans' Cup will be providing a complete array of competitive divisions. This year's event will be held November 10-11, 2012 at Indian Trails Sports Complex in Palm Coast, FL.

ST. AUGUSTINE PIRATE PARADE: The pirate parade takes over St. Augustine Saturday at Francis Field. The gates open at 9 a.m.

4TH ANNUAL ADAMEC HARLEY-DAVIDSON RIDE FOR DREAMS: Join Adamec Harley-Davidson and Dreams Come True for the annual Ride for Dreams motorcycle rally. Known as the original Seven Bridges Ride, participants enjoy a police escorted ride throughout Jacksonville. Following the event is live music by Jacksonville's own Fratello; food and prize drawings. 100% of proceeds go directly toward a local child's dream. STEP OUT: WALK TO STOP DIABETES: Step Out Jacksonville celebrates its 20th Anniversary Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Riverside Arts Market! The group expects more than 3,500 walkers to join in the 5K walk/run along Jacksonville's beautiful riverfront! All funds raised from Step Out are used in support of the Association's research, information and advocacy initiatives. Check-in and Start Line will be located under the canopy of Fuller Warren Bridge at the Riverside Arts Market at 6 a.m.

COMPASSION 5K FUN RUN: Service to Man Kind is an on-going mission for Sertoma of St. Augustine. To be a beacon of hope for local community members during a time of need. The focus of the Compassion 5k is to raise money to help ease the financial burden brought on by a major health crisis, many of which are life threatening. The run leaves The Shores in St. Augustine Saturday at 8 a.m.

WOMEN OF POWER 5K: The Second Annual Women of Power 5K benefits Cedar Haven, a project of Women of Power. This event is for runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels. Strollers are allowed, as well as well-behaved leashed dogs. Cedar Haven is a local transitional home for women facing homelessness in Fernandina Beach. The 5k starts at 8:30 a.m.

MCKENZIE'S RUN: Join Jaguars quarterback, Blaine Gabbert, captain of the 3rd Annual McKenzie's Run, a 5k run and walk and 1 mile fun run! McKenzie's Run will be held at EverBank Field on Saturday, November 10 at 9:00 a.m. The course goes through downtown Jacksonville and ends at the 50-yard line inside EverBank Field, where you can watch yourself crossing the finish line on the JumboTron. Following the run is a fun-filled post-party that includes an appearance by Jaxon de Ville, live music, Jaguar games, race awards, and an autograph signing by the Jaguar's ROAR Cheerleaders. You can register as a team at for $15 per person.

HOG JOG 5K: This cross-country course starts and finishes at Ronnie VanZant Memorial Park, 2760 Sandridge Road in Green Cove Springs Saturday at 2 p.m. This two-lap rugged course will not be suitable for strollers. Spikes may be worn. Walkers are welcome, but no separate walking awards will be given. Free one-mile Fun Run starts at 3 PM. The Fun Run is open to all, but you must register and pick up a race number to participate. Registration for the Fun Run is only available race day.

WALK IN THEIR SHOES TO BENEFIT RMHC JACKSONVILLE: On Saturday, hundreds of walkers are expected to show their support for families by taking a "Walk in Their Shoes" and raising funds to support the mission of RMHC Jacksonville. This 3 mile non-competitive walk through the greenway trails of the Nocatee community will take place on from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All registered participants will receive a free t-shirt and will have the option to set-up their own personalized fundraising website to help raise funds and win prizes. The walk will be followed by a free Family Festival, featuring food, drinks, entertainment and prizes. Walkers may register at for just $15.

RELAY FOR LIFE IN FERNANDINA BEACH: The 2012 Relay for Life at Yulee High School in Fernandina Beach starts at noon Saturday and ends at 6 a.m. Sunday. In addition to the relay, there will be games, dancing, and other fun activities!

SHE EXTRAVAGANZA: The SHE Extravaganza if a free women's craft fair and more! There will be vendors like Mary Kay, Rent-A-Nanny, Premier Jewelry and others. It's free to attend the fair at 9301 Old Kings Road S. It's set for Saturday from 8 a.m. To 3 p.m.

FLORIDA REGIONAL CHEERLEADING COMPETITION: The Florida Regional Cheerleading Competition takes place all day Saturday at University Christian School. Registration fee is $30 per person and $25 per team.

ART FOR TWO: Make art with your little one and enjoy gallery visits and time in Art Connections at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. Pre-registration recommended. Ages 3 to 5. Members $10 per pair, Non-members $15 per pair.

UNIVERSITY PARK LIBRARY FRIENDS BOOK WAREHOUSE SALE: The big sale is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then on Sunday, get a bag full of books for just $10 from 12 p.m. To 5 p.m.

13TH ANNUAL BRUNSWICK ROCKIN' STEWBILEE: Get ready for the 13th annual Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee Saturday at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples' Choice and Judges' Award. The day-long event begins with the 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid's Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation. Advanced tickets are $3 for kids under 6 years, $6 for adults or $4 and $9 on the day of the event.

NOVEMBERFEST: FALL FESTIVAL AND CRAFT FAIR: The Fall Festival and Craft Fair takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. At St. Matthews Lutheran Church and includes carnival games, motorcycles, a raffle, plenty of food, a bounce house, and more. Fun for all ages! Food will be served from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Don't miss out on all the fun!

HARVEST HAPPENINGS: Bring the family to bake and decorate using herbs of the season. Enjoy demos of dishes using herbs, participate in hands-on baking, learn how to decorate with an herbal flair. It's all happening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the UF Duval County Extension Office off McDuff Avenue.

BEAR CREEK MUSIC FESTIVAL: The Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park in Live Oak is hosting the 6th annual Bear Creek Music Festival Saturday and Sunday. for tickets and more information.

THE JACKSONVILLE CHILDREN'S CHORUS: The chorus hosts its fall concert featuring Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Hines Saturday at 2 p.m. At the Lazzara Performance Hall at the University of North Florida. Tickets are $25.

ANHEUSER-BUSCH CAR SHOW: The Anheuser-Busch car show is Saturday at the brewery on Busch Drive. More than 100 classic cars will be on display, plus take a free brewery tour. Registration is between 8 and 10 a.m. It all benefits United Way and the Ronald McDonald House.

CECIL PINES 10TH ANNUAL ANTIQUE CAR SHOW: This event is FREE and open to the public featuring antique and classic cars. Hours are Saturday from 10am - 2pm at the Cecil Pines Adult Living Community. Refreshments available such as hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, snow cones, etc. There is a jump house for the kids and a BlueGrass Band. Also many drawing taking place during the day. Donations are accepted and all the money raised by this event is donated to the NEFL Alzheimer's Association. Home tours also available from 11am to 1pm for more info call 904-771-8839.

ZUMBA FEST FOR BABIES: March of Dimes will host a 2 hour Zumba marathon from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Creekside Christian Church - 92 Lifespring Way, St Johns, FL 32259 (Off of Race Track Rd and near Bartram Park Blvd).

JACKSONVILLE SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA FALL CONCERT: Join the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra and JSYO Music Director and Principal Conductor Scott Gregg for their annual fall concert. The J SYM enrolls 270 students in six performing ensembles, led by a team of professional conductors and Jacksonville Symphony coaches and mentors. The performance is Sunday at 5 p.m. At the Times Union Center.

SATURDAY NIGHT CLUB TEEN ICE SKATING: Club Teen is for Teens & Tweens between the ages of 10 and 19 years old. There will be ice skating, a live DJ, and cosmic lighting. Join in on the fun from 7 p.m. To 10 p.m. Saturday at Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex.

STARS FLASHIN' WITH PASSION FOR FASHION: This fashion show features local designers showcasing finely tailored garments. It kicks off 7 p.m. Saturday at First Coast Technical College in St. Augustine. This is a positive event for the oldest historical city St. Augustine, where the local community and travelers to St. Augustine will have another fun activity to attend throughout the year. 6TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE BENEFIT: The 6th Annual Celebration of Life Benefit FUNdraiser is on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Aetna building from 7 p.m. To 11 p.m. The Benefit includes a Concert, various fun activities, and culminates into a Scholarship for determined and deserving students majoring in the disciplines of Health and Science. This year's theme is "Gambling on Education" and there will be roulette, blackjack, poker, bid whist, spades, 50/50 raffle AND a 42' TV on the Silent Auction, with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund!

BUDDY GUY AND JOHNNY LANG: Perform at the St. Augustine Ampitheatre Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

NEEDTOBREATHE PERFORMS: Needtobreathe performs at the Florida Theatre Performing Arts Center Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $27.50.

TAP DOGS PERFORMANCE: The international sensation - TAP DOGS - is back and ready to leave dents on stages all across North America. Created by Olivier Award-winning choreographer Dein Perry, with a construction site set by designer/director Nigel Triffitt, and a driving score by composer Andrew Wilkie, TAP DOGS is a rough, tough, rocking theatrical entertainment. The show is set for Saturday at 8 p.m. At the Times Union Center's Moran Theater. for tickets.

LOUIE ANDERSON: Comedian Louie Anderson, as seen on the Tonight Show, Letterman, and numerous movies and television shows, will perform at the Comedy Zone Saturday at 8 p.m. And 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $25.



4TH ANNUAL BIKE 26.2 WITH DONNA: Bike 26.2 with Donna is a cycling event to raise funds to finish breast cancer. An official event of 26.2 with Donna, 100% of race proceeds and raised funds will go to breast cancer research and care. Riders of all levels will enjoy new roads with wide bike lanes and beautiful oak tree canopies. Courses include 13.1, 26.2, and 52.4 miles. 6:30 AM - Pre ride registration and check in; 7:30 AM - rides start. Post Ride celebration including all-American cookout. It all starts Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at the Veterans Park, 1332 Veterans Parkway in St. Johns County.

SALUTE TO VETERANS 5k: The 5k race and 1-mile fun run is set for Sunday at 8 a.m. at the Jacksonville Landing to benefit the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association. It's $30 for the 5k and $14 for the fun run on the day of the race. But there's a discounted $15 entry for the 5k for all military, seniors 65 and over, plus kids under 13.

2012 VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE - MANDARIN COMMUNITY CLUB: The Mandarin Community Club will observe Veterans Day with a wreath-laying ceremony Sunday, November 11. The public is invited to attend this event scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial located within the Billard Park, 11642 Brady Road. For further information, please call 268-1622.

OLD CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL: The Old City Music Festival is at the St. Augustine Marketplace Sunday featuring great bands, drinks, and fun! has the details.

A TASTE OF HEALTHIER HOLIDAY DESSERTS: The holidays are approaching and your health care ministry members are in the kitchen trying something new. On Sunday. following 11 a.m. service at FBCM off Loretto Road, experience an "Extreme Makeover" of some traditional holiday dessert samples and some non-traditional ones. You can also participate in a blind taste test. It's all from 1 to 2 p.m.

TEDDY BEAR EXTRAVAGANZA: This fun event for the family benefits the Polish American Cultural Society. You can purchase or donate one of the 300 Grandma Anna's teddy bears and other friends. It's free to attend the event at the Prince of Peace Church Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

AMERICAN RED CROSS VETERANS DAY GOLF CLASSIC: The Veterans Day Golf Classic is the main fundraiser of the year. This event will honor veterans and help those that are in need. Beginning Sunday, there will be a Pairings Party and a Live & Silent auction at the Sea Island Golf Club from 6:30 p.m. To 9:30 p.m. .
