JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Monday morning the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released the identity of a man's body that was found floating in the Trout River Sunday. Later Monday afternoon they said detectives determined the man was murdered.
Melissa Bujeda, Public Information Officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, said the body was identified as that of 27-year-old Jerome Angelo Faulk Jr.
Police were called to the boat ramp in the 6800 block of Dunn Avenue Terrace around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Two kayakers reported finding Faulk's body floating in the river.
Shannon Hartley, also a Public Information Officer with the sheriff's office, said foul play is suspected in Faulk's death.
Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in the investigation.
