JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Phyllis Smith doesn't waste any time at the Florida Georgia game.
"It's just like a regular job to me. It gives me something to do," she said.
She's been picking up cans at the stadium for the past 40 years, and has no plans to stop.
"I've been doing it since I was 21, I'm 62 years old now."
While she goes to all the big events in the city, the Florida Georgia game is by far her biggest haul.
"This is the best day of my life with the Florida/Georgia game. That's the only time I get a lot of cans is Florida/Georgia day," she said.
She makes at least 3 trips back and forth to a friend's house to drop the cans off, but has no idea how many she picks up in a day.
"I can't tell you, I don't know!"
Smith can make up to $200 dollars on Florida/Georgia weekend.
So at 45 cents a pound, she has to haul more than 400 pounds of cans in a day.
"Making some money tonight! That's right, thank you!"
And with the attendance growing at FL/GA each year, she can expect to make more.
"I hit the jackpot this year, I hit the jackpot."
