OCEAN CITY, NJ - All roads into and out of Ocean City are closed due to flooding that has totally cut off the popular Jersey shore resort community.
Bridges at the north and south end of the island, as well as the Route 52 causeway are all closed, and virtually every street in the community that calls itself "America's Greatest Family Resort" is under water.
Downtown stores had water two feet up their entrances, and some residents sloshed through armpit-high floods as they sought higher ground.
Waves were pounding the boardwalk, and had swamped the bus terminal at the main entrance to the city.
Emergency officials had hoped flooding would recede enough to permit one final round of evacuations, but that proved impossible.
