JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One individual is in a life-threatening condition and another individual is in police custody after a fight outside the Georgia vs. Florida game at EverBank Field was broken up by police.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda, a large crowd gathered around around the fight. Police were flagged down to the fight around 4:45 p.m., which happened near the pond in Lot J.

JSO homicide investigators found that two individuals were involved in a physical confrontation, Bujeda said.

An eyewitness initially told First Coast News when the fight happened that a person who wasn't moving being pulled out of the pond. Eyewitnesses also told FCN that the two individuals were male.

One of the individuals in the physical confrontation was transported by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, Bujeda said. This prompted the JSO homicide unit to be called to the scene.

That individual's condition has been upgraded to stable by medical personnel, Bujeda said.

The other individual involved in the physical confrontation is in police custody, Bujeda said.

JSO's homicide unit is still in the process of interviewing witnesses. Bujeda said having heavy police presence in the area helped to curtail the situation quickly.
