JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has two burglary suspects in custody after searching for them with help from the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
CCSO and JSO searched for the burglary suspects in the Oakleaf/Argyle area. The CCSO actively searched the Clay County side of that area, according to Mary Justino with CCSO.
There does not appear to be a third burglary suspect, according to Sgt. A.L. Tompkins with JSO.
The suspects were attempting to burglarize a home in the neighborhood,
Tompkins said. JSO attempted to arrest them and they fled in a Nissan
The suspects led police to an empty lot, where police
arrested one suspect who never got out of the car, Tompkins said. The second suspect
ran away and removed his clothes. Police chased him and caught him.
According to Darlene Mahla with Clay County Public Schools, Plantation
Oaks Elementary, Oakleaf Junior High, Oakleaf High School and Oakleaf Village Elementary School were on partial lock down the rest of the day. At one point, Oakleaf Village Elementary was on full lock down.
Justino said deputies were posted at each school in the area on the Clay County side of the search.
