GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Family, friends and students gathered at the University of Florida for a vigil for the student killed last month.
The body of Christian Aguilar, 18, was found over the weekend.
Aguilar went missing more than three weeks ago. His friend Pedro Bravo, 18, is charged with his murder.
Monday night, tears and flickers of light filled the church sanctuary on the University of Florida's campus.
"I don't personally know him but same effect as if I did personally know him," said David Easley, a UF student said. "I tried hard enough to not cry myself."
"I think I speak for all of our friends that were close to Christian that we're happy that he's with his family now and they have that closure they know where their son is," said Yolanda Gonzalez, also a UF student. "They don't have to wonder anymore, they don't have to think about where are they searching now, the search is over."
Although the result wasn't what they hoped, Gonzalez said it brings needed closure.
"Chris would have just been like thank you," Gonzalez said. "The amount of appreciation he would have for everybody you couldn't measure it. He would have been thankful for everybody no matter how big or small of a part he played, he would have loved them for helping his family."
