NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol said no charges will be filed after a semi hit a 17-year-old girl walking on U.S. 1 in Nassau County.
A tractor-trailer driven by 68-year-old Charles Sapp struck 17-year-old Destiny Roberts as she walked along U.S. 1, according to a crash report from FHP.
Roberts was walking westbound in the parking lane of northbound US 1 at 6:28 a.m. Thursday morning.
She was struck, the report said, when for unknown reasons she walked into the path of the semi, which was traveling northbound on US 1.
Rescue personnel transported Roberts in critical condition to Shands Jacksonville.
