Employee takes $2,300 from cash register, arrested next day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --Police have arrested a man on employee theft charges after he took $2,300 from a Family Dollar store register and walked out of the business.

Police say Adrian Durden, 43, was working at the store on University Blvd West for one day. Manager Joseph Bigham called police and told them Durden was seen on security cameras taking all the money out of the cash register and leaving.

Police say he took all the money out, concealed it on his person and exited the front of the store.

Police went to the suspect's apartment and could not find him. He was later found passed out in a nightclub by police the next night. The officer contacted the suspect's girlfriend who told the officer police were looking for him.

He was arrested and then taken to Shands Hospital due to severe intoxication.
