JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 51-year-old Jacksonville man who was arrested for the death of Wolfson High senior, JaNay Jackson, made his first appearance Saturday in court.

Ismet Sijamhodzic bond was set at $250,000 during the hearing.

Seventeen-year-old Jackson was killed the night of August 28 by a van driven by Sijamhodzic, which smashed into her bedroom while she was sleeping.

Sijamhodzic was taken into custody Friday evening and now faces one charge of vehicular homicide.

Police reports show Sijamhodzic had two anti-depressants in his system at the time of the crash, including Xanax.

He also told police he had not slept for three days before the accident.

The JSO report says Sijamhodzic did not appear to stop or try to swerve at the stop sign on Kennerly Road.

Sijamhodzic's van crashed through a barrier wall and then into Jackson's bedroom where she was sleeping.

First Coast News has investigated Sijamhodzic driving background and discovered many traffic violations, including multiple citations for speeding and careless driving.
