JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two people have been taken to Shands Jacksonville after a pickup truck hydroplaned off the roadway and hit a tree.
Police at the scene said a pickup truck traveling north on New Kings Road hit a puddle and hydroplaned. The truck went off the roadway into the grass where it struck a tree.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department had to cut the roof of the truck off to remove the driver and passenger.
The passenger of the truck was taken by air ambulance to Shands Jacksonville. The driver was also taken to Shands Jacksonville by ground transport.
Both people suffered critical injuries in the crash. Police said though the injuries are critical, they are not believed to be life threatening.
