JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Funeral arrangements have been announced for an 8-year-old boy killed while playing on the ropes course at The Bolles School Bartram campus.
Ryan Perry was killed September 5 when he became tangled in a rope swing on an obstacle course next to the school's football field.
The boy was playing with his little sister while his older brother, who is a student at the school, was practicing football. The dad of the children was watching the practice, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The viewing for Ryan Perry will take place Friday, September 14, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Ortega United Methodist Church. The church is located at 4807 Roosevelt Blvd.
A memorial service for Perry will be held Saturday, September 15, at 11 a.m. The memorial service will also take place at the church.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society at 8464 Beach Blvd., or the Westside Soccer Club, 5345 Ortega Boulevard. Donations made be made either online of by mail in memory of Ryan Perry.
When announcing the services to the Bolles community, Bolles Head of School Brian Johnson said, "We are heartsick by the sudden loss of Ryan Perry. No words that I can add would do justice to the loss that his family and friends have experienced and are experiencing now. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Perrys, their friends and loved ones."
