FHP releases name of person killed in I-10 crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol has released the name of a man killed on I-10 near US 301 Tuesday morning.

The accident happened before 6:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10 at U.S. 301, according to the FHP.

Fifty-four-year-old Thomas Anderson was killed when the 2012 Kia Forte he was driving rear-ended a tractor-trailer, according to a crash report from FHP.

The tractor-trailer, which was being driven by 36-year-old Ramon Alvarez, was slowing and stopping in the roadway due to mechanical reasons. Alvarez was not injured.

The report said it is unknown at this time why Anderson collided with the back of the tractor-trailer.

FHP had the eastbound lanes blocked, with troopers diverting traffic on to U.S. 301. Drivers are encouraged to take U.S. 90 or Normandy Boulevard as alternate routes to avoid the area.

The highway was reopened shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Charges are pending in the crash, the report said.
