JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman shot during a domestic dispute last week in Oceanway has died, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Monica Griffin, 42, died from injuries she suffered in a shooting in the 3400 block of Hickory Landing Court, according to a news release from Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.

Police believe 43-year-old Robert Griffin shot Monica before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide, Bujeda said.

Reports of gunshots brought sheriff's office deputies to the Oceanway neighborhood the afternoon of September 6.

When police arrived the found both Monica and Robert Griffin shot.

Robert was pronounced dead at the scene while Monica was taken to a local hospital.

Bujeda said detectives determined the two were arguing when Robert shot Monica.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
