ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies who shot and killed a woman in St. Augustine have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

That's according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and a state investigation.

Andrea Sheldon was a Hospice nurse.

She was shot and killed on her front porch off County Road 214 in April.

Deputies came to her home after a they got a call from her husband's boss who was concerned about him.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said when deputies arrived, Sheldon pointed a gun at them.

The sheriff's office said deputies told her to put down the gun and when she did not, they fired and killed her.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has cleared the deputies, Sgt. Chuck Mulligan of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Saturday.

Days after Sheldon's death, her friend Tracey Baugher said she could not believe Sheldon would ever point a gun at officers.

Baugher said, "She hates guns. Hates. The only reason guns are in the house is because there are snakes on the property."

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and the Medical Examiners Office, Sheldon had a blood alcohol limit that was above the legal driving limit and she had also had hydrocodone in her system.
