JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Leonard Adams Hoffman pled guilty Thursday to two counts of unlawful intercourse with certain minors.
Hoffman was then sentenced to one year in the Duval County Jail and eight years of Sex Offender Probation, according to a news release from State Attorney Angela Corey's office.
Hoffman, 32, was teaching at Paxon Middle School at the time of the crime.
Evidence showed in September 2011 Hoffman had sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl, according to the state attorney's office.
"Today's sentence protects the victim from having to testify about those events in front of a jury. It also makes the defendant a sexual offender, who will be under supervision for nine years," said Assistant State Attorney Erin Perry.
Hoffman was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in March 2012.
