JACKSONVILLE CELEBRATES THE ARTS: Join the city of Jacksonville for three days of outdoor celebration featuring Sculptures, Ceramics, Paintings, Photography, Jewelry, Fiber Arts, etc. at the Jacksonville Museum Grounds throughout the weekend. There will also be live music at the Landing Saturday and Sunday.
ART, CRAFT & LIFESTYLE SHOW AT THE AVENUES MALL: Shop at The Avenues Mall, August 30-September 2, and visit exhibitors offering a selection of handmade art and craft creations and for the latest trends and ideas to enhance your home and lifestyle. You'll also find products offered by popular home-based business representatives. Exhibitors will be located throughout the mall and available during regular mall hours.
30TH ANNUAL LABOR DAY WEEKEND CATFISH FESTIVAL: The big annual Catfish Festival includes arts, crafts, and car show, plus entertainment, and of course catfish, in Kingsland, Ga., throughout the weekend. This 3-day event is the largest festival in Southeast Georgia and scheduled events include a parade, free concerts, arts & crafts booths, southern fried catfish, a variety of food booths, antiques and collectibles, entertainment, children's amusement area, a 5K run, a classic car & tractor exhibition, and the annual Lions Club's Pancake Breakfast.
JACKSONVILLE FARMERS MARKET: Open every day of the year, dawn to dusk, save up to 70% or more on NE Florida's largest & fresh selection of local, ethnic, and specialty produce, agricultural and other food products. It's free to attend. The farmer's market runs this Saturday from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m.
iPHONE/iPAD TRAINING: If you have a new tech device but aren't quite sure how to use it, free iPhone and iPad training is offered this and every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Verizon Wireless Zone at 886 A1A north in Ponte Vedra.
RIVERSIDE ARTS MARKET: The Riverside Arts Market is every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. off Riverside Avenue underneath the Fuller Warren Bridge. It features crafts, art, live entertainment and more!
LABOR OF LOVE: At Jacksonville's Animal Care & Protective Services, it's a labor of love adoption event. One of the famous Food Truckies, "On The Fly", will be there, as well as other vendors, $20 adoption specials and a free educational workshop at 11:00 AM Saturday.
ELECTRIC SUN FESTIVAL: The festival takes over the Morocco Shrine Auditorium Saturday and Sunday starting at 1 p.m. through 10 p.m. Featuring five stages, water slides, and much more, the Electric Sun Fest aims to encourage festival goers to vote while bringing entertainment value with world-renowned electronic dance artists such as Tiësto, Gabriel & Dresdon, John Dahlbäck, and others. ROMNEY/RYAN EVENT: Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan make a stop at the Jacksonville Landing Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are free, but you have to RSVP.
EPF CASINO CRUISE NIGHT: It's a FUN-raiser aboard the Jacks or Better casino boat in Atlantic Beach on Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 with half going directly to the Endangered Primate Foundation (EPF). Ticket price includes boarding, dinner buffet, and $20 casino cash. There will be a silent auction and 50:50 raffle, also benefiting EPF. Enjoy gambling on separate smoking and non-smoking decks, dancing to the music under the stars on the top deck, or grab a drink at any of the full bars located on each deck. TRI-JAX CHALLENGE SERIES: The Episcopal AmberJax swim club and City of Jacksonville JaxParks are hosting this twice-annual event that offers a Sprint and Youth race at the Cecil Recreation Complex. The courses offers a pool swim, a flat fast bike and a mostly paved run through a scenic pine forest. Proceeds from the races benefit JaxParks Select teams, which work to provide athletic opportunities for youth throughout the greater Jacksonville area. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. SUMMER MOVIE CLASSICS: Watch "On The Town" at the Florida Theatre Sunday at 2 p.m. It's $7.50 per ticket.
THE JACKSONVILLE LANDING: Enjoy live music and entertainment at the Jacksonville Landing throughout the weekend. Feast on a St. Johns River Shrimp and Crawfish Low Country Boil every Sunday with live music, drink specials and raffles on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.
LABOR DAY ALL WHITE ROOFTOP PARTY: Join the fun and music at the white party at the parking garage across from the Omni Hotel on Bay Street Sunday starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20.00.
